How come if Santa Clause brings kids presents, we have to bring toys for the poor?

Because Santa hates poor people?
I think as a society we need to rethink the myths we expect our children to believe. I hate lying to my kids about Santa, but I would also hate for them to miss out on the thrill of it.
Being a parent is hard.
