Living in a different time

April 13th, 2009 · 1 Comment · Friendships

When I was younger, and my Grandmother was alive, she and I were going through some of her quilts.  We came across one and she told me, “I remember sitting under the tree in our yard when Marvin was sick, piecing this quilt.”   I asked what happened to Marvin, and she said, “he took sick and died.”  Very matter of fact.  It gripped my heart that she could say it so matter of factually though I’m sure it took years to be able to say that simple sentence.

I was glad we lived in a time when babies didn’t just “take sick and die.”

But we do.

My heart breaks for Shana and her family.  This is a burden no one should have to bear.

Sarah from Whoorl has set up a PayPal Account if you would like to donate  to help Rich and Shana pay medical and funeral expenses.  Your prayers would be appreciated as well.
