More life changes

January 15th, 2008 · 8 Comments · Exercise

The Huz and I have joined a gym. I suspect I will be the only one that actually uses it. We get a super good deal because the KOC owns this one. It’s only about 10 minutes from my house by car. It has really great hours. And it has a lot of treadmills and other cardio equipment. They are suppose to be putting in a swimming pool that the kids can use during the summer and when the GirlChild turns 14 she can go and use the equipment as well.

My plan is to get up about 6:00 every morning and go. Since I’ve been waking up early every morning anyway, I thought that would be a good use of my time.

I use to belong to the Y (and for awhile this gym when it was owned by someone else) and would go every night after I got off work. But then I changed jobs and we adopted the BoyChild and the Huz went back to work full time. Working out kind of got sucked into that blackhole that became my life.

I’m starting on the treadmill. Forty-five minutes. I’d like to start running. I will probably add some weight workouts after I get use to exercising on the treadmill.

It has made me feel more clear headed already and yesterday afternoon, I didn’t have that mid-afternoon malaise I’d been having.

And the great news? I’ve already lost 2 pounds!

So tell me, what web site do y’all use to track your workouts?

wow, that is a good idea.
right now I am on w8 watchers and that means that I can enter that kind of thing there but it isn’t all that satisfactory.

I’m totally sold on exercise as stress reduction. It’s pretty much a five day a week necessity for me or I absolutely go out of my mind. But, alas, I don’t track my workouts, just sort of quietly sneak them in when no one’s looking.

Great start! I know you’ll enjoy keeping it up. I used to go to the Y with my teenaged daughter — that is, before my back went “sproing” on me. Now it’s healing, and I’m ready to start exercising again.
