I now understand there is a new SHOE policy at school

July 30th, 2007 · 2 Comments · Family Life

My husband came home from the KOC dance and told me there is now a new “Shoe” policy at the GirlChild’s school.

I can’t get them to verify information about her textbooks that I’m ordering on tape but they have time to sit down and write a new SHOE policy?  Is there something wrong with this picture?

Apparently the no sandals, no flip-flops, must be able to see socks rules aren’t enough.  Now the hubs tells me that they must be tennis shoes, no high heels and no high tops.  So I guess those funky little ballet flat slip on things the GirlChild is fond of wearing were causing problems.

Now that we’ve got that shoe problem figured out, do you think they’ll be able to verify the information about the textbooks so I can get them ordered before school starts on the 16th?

Ack this sounds so familiar. The school I teach at is so safety-obsessed that they’ve banned everything from hairclips to markers to jumpropes. The kids are paranoid and miserable, with a complete lack of creativity compared to other schools I’ve observed. Rules like this are not made in the kid’s best interests, they are all about saving the school a minor headache.
