I was much more enthusiastic about this:

when I thought it was INSIDE the Bass Pro Shop.

He ultimately caught this:

but then we were faced with what to do with it.

He didn’t want to throw it back.

I offered to cook it, if his Father would clean it, but he didn’t want to do that.

I didn’t want him putting it in a box and storing it under his bed.

We compromised by agreeing to bury it in the flower bed to fertilize the flowers that will be coming up this spring.

We promised to do more fishing this summer, but I think we really need to come up with a better plan than burying them in the front yard.

He’s so sweet. And kudos to you, coming up with a good solution!

Congrats to the boy on his good catch! Too funny about your new ‘fertilizer’. My dad is a master fisherman and I *think* lives for the actual cleaning and dressing/filleting of the fish. My idea of fishing is finding a big sunny rock and a good book to read…not so much on the actual catching of fish ;)

If he’s fishing in a farm pond or lake, do “Catch and Release”.
That was a really nice trout! I never would have thought about using it as fertilzer.

I like that fish! I caught my Charlie digging one up one time two days after we conducted services for it – he said he wanted to see if Jesus had come to get it yet. I had to stop that one fast. Fishing off bridge in north Florida is the way to go – it’s heaven. Or out of a row boat on the St. Marks river.

Awesome catch! I would have opted for the shoe box under the bed. HAHAHAHA
