Going to Day Camp for the First Time – Edited

March 16th, 2008 · 2 Comments · None

Tomorrow the BoyChild is going to his first, camp sort of experience.

You know the classes that spring up during spring break where they have a theme or an activity so the parents can work and the children can be stimulated during the spring break holiday.

This one is where the GranMa is an artist in residence so I’m hoping she’ll be in the building most of the day. The BoyChild seems excited. I am an anxious mess about it.

The BoyChild seems to do o.k. at school these days, but he doesn’t eat lunch there and only goes from 8:30 to 11:00.

This program is from 9:00 to 4:00. And he has to eat there.

We’ve packed him a lunch using his rotation diet (which I still can’t quite get a good handle on-does anyone else do it and can you help me out with it) but I wonder if it’s going to be enough food. If the BoyChild gets the wrong food he’s a beast but if he doesn’t get enough food he can also be a beast.

I’m worried he’ll have a melt down. He’s had a tough couple of days even with his new meds and his ADHD drugs.

I’m just worried.

Edited to add: Oh we did not have an auspicious beginning! When they arrived, they did not have his name down and there was lots of confusion and waiting while we got that worked out. By the time that all got straightened out, the class was full of screaming, wild children and the BoyChild refused to go into the classroom. They finally moved him into a different class, where they will do more sedate sorts of things and which was quieter. David is going to stay until the Granma arrives so the BoyChild doesn’t have to be there alone. Oh my poor baby!
