What I’m Doing

October 29th, 2007 · 5 Comments · Family Life, What I'm Doing

I have been out of touch lately.

Work and that pesky need to make a living has been interfering with my blogging.

And.

Stitching.

Stitching has been interfering with my blogging.

I started a Christmas stocking for my new niece, BabyGirl, before she was born.

I started the stocking shortly after my brother and SIL announced they were going to adopt a baby. But I reached a point where I really couldn’t continue until I knew the identity of this child, i.e. I had to have a name to put on it, and I rolled it up and put it away about half finished.

After she was born, LAST JANUARY, I thought to myself, “I really should get that stocking finished.” And I thought that several more times over the following months.

What with one thing and another, I didn’t really get started on it again in earnest until probably this August. I’ve been stitching like a fiend to get it done and off to the finishers in time for her to sew it into a stocking and return it to me before Christmas. I’ve been shooting for a November 1 deadline though my local needlework store told me I really had until November 15 to have it done by this Christmas. I decided not to push that limit and was working on getting it finished ASAP.

I am glad to say, last night after stitching most of the weekend and watching Chitty Chitty Bang Bang with the BoyChild over and over and over and over again until those songs are permanently etched upon my brain, I put the last of the beads on it and it is ready to go into the mail to the finishers!

Overall, I am pleased with the way it turned out. Some of the areas didn’t come out quite as nice as I’d hoped but it is very nice looking none-the-less.

I hope to put the stocking in the mail tomorrow. And, if I am lucky, I will have pictures up in a few days showing all my fabulous work.

    Oh Jess! That is BAD.

The only good thing is I’ve had that song running around in my head all day so you couldn’t have possibly planted it there.
