Summer’s Ending

August 16th, 2012 · No Comments · Family Life

Another summer is coming to a close.  The BoyChild starts school tomorrow which to me always symbolizes the end of summer.

We didn’t really do much this summer.

I hired a girl I knew from Church to help with the BoyChild this summer.  She was fabulous!  I didn’t quite know what to call her.  He’s really too old for a babysitter but nanny seemed so pretentious.  She came to my house, took him to school on mornings I couldn’t.  They went swimming, to the movies, bowling, museum crawling, that sort of thing.  They also did a fair amount of laying around doing nothing.  While I didn’t want him doing that ALL the time, I didn’t mind a little of that.

The Fourth of July we blew stuff up.  No one, or property, was injured so I deemed it a success.

I volunteered to be the point person on the school supplies for the BoyChild’s class room.  They ended up averaging about $75 a student.  Much better than the huge amounts we normally spend.  It sucked up an enormous amount of time, but was worth the savings.

We’ve bought a few pairs of uniform pants and shorts.  I’d just bought a bunch right after the first of the year so we really only needed to replace some that had gotten worn out.

I’ve not been running.  It has been too hot here.  The highest we hit this summer was 113.  It looks like I won’t be able to run my Marathon before I’m 50.  I’ll have to settle for the year I turn 50 and plan to run it next Spring.

Tonight is the Back-To-School Cook-Out.  And then we climb back on that mouse wheel and the 5th Grade begins!
