The BoyChild started his new non-denominational school yesterday.
He seemed excited as we were getting ready for school. He was happy and friendly and bubbly.
David and I both went. I took my camera and made him promise I could take pictures.
As reality set in, he seemed less sure. Quieter. More reflective and less responsive.
The Head Master was at the door and called him by name as we walked up.
His teacher had his desk set up and ready to go. The kids seemed excited that he was there.
He let me take pictures but I limited myself to one. He doesn’t like it when I take pictures of him and I didn’t want to stress him out anymore.
David and I left. We talked about whether to call to check on him. David, who has been going and getting the BoyChild for lunch every day since sometime in early-September, seemed at a loss about what to do. In the end we decided not to call and David did not go get him for lunch.
I told David that he was going to miss getting the BoyChild at lunch every day. David would pick him up, take him home, make sure he ate his lunch, play some Wii Bowling or Tennis with him and return him to school when they would go back into school from lunch recess.
This morning he seemed more confident. David talked to him about whether the BoyChild wanted David to come up for lunch. The BoyChild said, no, he’d rather eat lunch and play with his friends.
So that’s what we are going to do.

Awesome! I am thrilled for the easy transition. I almost feel sorry for David not having lost his lunch buddy. Hope the week goes well.
