A Christmas Carole

November 9th, 2009 · No Comments · Family Life

Friday afternoon we went to see Disney’s new A Christmas Carol.

We opted for the non-3D version.

At the movie theater we go to, the movie is $3.75 and the 3D glasses are $3.  They make you buy a new pair of 3D glasses, even if you have the last pair you got with you.  That has led me to the conclusion that this 3D thing is a racket.

I like the Christmas Carol story, and I enjoyed this version.

Some of the special effects, I wasn’t crazy about.  There was a long scene where Scrooge was being chased and he shrunk and took a ride through the London sewer system that I totally couldn’t figure out.  If it added to the story, that’s one thing, but this whole scene seemed to be just for the benefit of the special effects people.

I’m not a Jim Carrey fan but it wasn’t obviously him, so that worked out o.k.  I’m not sure I understood the point in making it cartoon like, except for the special effects.

I’d recommend it as a nice family flick.
